“In the past twenty years, I have been braiding original stories shaped by our oral tradition, unspoken stories, erased histories, and imagined futures in hopes of using storytelling as it’s always been used—to show us ways of Being and being together in good relation on this great, spinning star we call Mother.”
- Dovie Thomason
“Like an Indigenous Virgil, Dovie guides us through the wonders of outer and inner space. A master of humor and heart she gives us, and our blue orb, a place among the stars. In a world where science fiction becomes science maybe, a Forbidden Planet is simply a misunderstood planet. My 2022 mail-in vote to command the Millennium Falcon, Enterprise and Serenity goes to Dovie Thomason.”

"For nearly four decades, my work has been the preservation and continuation of Native cultural arts, using the traditional art of storytelling.
A long-time performer at Open Eye, Kevin Kling is known for his hilarious recounts of true events on NPR's All Things Considered. Kling's autobiographical tales are as enchanting as they are true to life: hopping freight trains, getting hit by lightning, performing his banned play in Czechoslovakia, growing up in Minnesota, and eating things before knowing what they are. He has performed regularly at Open Eye, including GREATEST HITS & JUICY BITS, CHICKEN SHIP, TENDER MERCIES, FOUR DIRECTIONS, and many more. Read more about Kevin at kevinkling.com.
