Tools & Exercises for Developing a Puppet Show

Ready to make a puppet show but not sure where to start? Experienced artist but still developing your creative process? This workshop provides tips, exercises and general info on how to generate new work and balance all the art forms that go into making a puppet show. From project management to creating your puppet world and story, we'll walk through a project timeline and exercises to fall back on when you're not sure what should come next.

Teaching Artist Bio

liz howls is a multimedia artist and puppeteer who has been creating and building puppet shows for over 25 years. She performs puppet shows for children and adults. When not performing, she works in stop motion animation as an assistant director. Liz is the executive Director of Full Moon Puppet Arts, a Minneapolis non-profit that offers adult workshops and programs in the puppet arts. She recently relocated from Minneapolis to Portland in 2021, but continues to stay close with her Minneapolis community.
