Mixing Sand Drawings and Shadow Puppets

This workshop will focus on learning how to manipulate and mix shadow puppets and sand drawings for live performance. Each participant will learn how to build shadow puppets with rotating and sliding joints and will design sand drawings through playing and exploring, creating a simple scene mixing both mediums to perform for the other participants at the end of the workshop. All participants ranging from beginners to experts are welcome.

Teaching Artist Bio
Sofía Padilla is a Mexican Theater Artist, Director, Designer and Puppeteer who has participated in over fifty national and international theater productions. Currently, she teaches Puppetry at Macalester College, works seasonally at Bread and Puppet Theater, is the Artistic Co-Director of Paradox Teatro and Co-Directs Puppet Lab at Open Eye Theatre.
